The Right Direction

So I am getting a head start on my Monday post.... seeing as how Monday always trys to sneak up on me and before I know it the day is over and I haven't posted... it's lame... but life has been busy lately!

I've done a really good job of watching what I eat this week... pretty much removed sugar and flour from my diet... just been eating lots of lean protien, salads and fruit... and planning what I eat... rather than just snacking on whatever food is available, or eating something because it is free... etc

I realized this week that I eat A LOT when I am bored or stressed... usually when I get home from work I am so tired... so I make something quick like kettle corn (1/4c oil, 1/4c sugar, 1/2c seeds) and sit around watching some show on netflix with no commercials and no end in site...

And now that I am watching what I eat, but still watching my shows, I notice how much I crave *something* while I am watching... it is insane how STRONG the urge to eat something - anything while I watch.... I am going to have to have to find a solution... but, no worries...

This week I lost 4lbs!!... I feel like I am on the right path... and In another few weeks I will be at a happier weight and a few weeks more maybe at a new all-time low weight... That's what I am hoping... and maybe after Easter I will switch to a low-carb diet... I do really well on the Atkins... so we will see...

One week at a time!!

Also - a reminder - Win, Lose or Blog is still accepting applications for our 4th season which begins on April 1st.... If you like to blog and need to lose weight you should totally check it out!

  1. Awesome, congratulations!!! :) SO true, many of us eat a lot more when we're stressed. Recognizing it can be such a big obstacle it seems, doesn't it? But you did and you're well on your way to achieving your goals! I hope you have a great week ahead! :)

  2. awesome on the 4 pounds!!

Also - to keep from eating while you watch something, chew some gum :)

I make it a rule that I can't eat while I am doing something else. That way I'm not doing MINDLESS eating, but MINDFUL eating :)

    Have a great week!

  4. Congratulations on losing 4lbs! That's so great!
I too eat when I am bored. I find it helps me to stay awake, but what I need to do is get up and move instead.
Good luck this week, I'm cheering for you!

  5. I do the same thing- eat while watching tv/movies. So I've resorted to making sure I grab something healthy- grapes, carrots, or a thing of string cheese. That way if I'm gonna snack, atleast it's something that is good for me.

    Congrats on the weight loss!

  8. What a great loss for the week. You're definitely on the right track. I can relate to the mindless eating. It's definitely something I have to stop doing. Here's to a great week for both of us.

  9. Well, great loss! That sugar and white flour elimination is right ON. But even more, congrats on your eating realization. You work on that? And you'll have done something really wonderful for yourself. Congrats on a great week!

  10. So happy to see you post a loss! I have been rooting for ya, girl!!

Yes, mindless eating can be a downfall of mine, also. And since I don't snack solely on celery... it is a HUGE problem. Being mindful of your own temptations and conscious efforts to cut out the unnecessary refined carbs can be so helpful.

I wish you the best and hope to hear about another losing week next Monday. Keep up the hard work!

  11. 4lbs is awesome! Yay for you!

I tend to try to eat when I'm bored too, but I've really lately been trying to think of food as fuel, and when I want to eat trying to figure out WHY I want to eat, whether I'm hungry or just want to munch.

    Keep up the awesome work!!

  13. AWESOME LOSS!!! I'm so proud of you for sticking with it. Let me know how no carb works for you. it's worked well in the past for me, but I could never stick to it and the weight always came back... look forward to hearing more about it!

  14. Congrats on the loss and watching what you eat. Sounds like you need to throw a treadmill or bike in front of the tv to workout as you watch to keep the snack craving at bay.
